ICAREINDIA, a social non-government organization has been running a programme ANKURAM, in Lucknow, since July 2015, and has recently started in Kanpur Nagar and Gorakhpur, aimed at transforming government primary schools by involving local community and youth with active support from local district administration. State of affairs at these schools is well known and has been a matter of concern. Our intervention is benefitting approximately fifteen thousand children studying in more than hundred such schools.
The programme has created a very positive impact on all the stakeholders, viz., the local community, the panchayat, the school, the parents, the youth and the students and has set in a desire for change, a vital component for any transformation. In year 2014, starting with just one Government Primary School (inter-generational learning centre) it has now taken a shape of a mission within a short span of time scaling up to more than 100 such learning centres in three districts, covering about fifteen thousand disadvantaged children.
ICAREINDIA prides itself in having extended support of some of the most distinguished and highly acclaimed professionals, and dignitaries as members on its Advisory Board. This strong intellectual support under leadership of Sh. Atul Kr. Gupta, ex. Chief Secretary, provides the organization a unique capability and resource to plan and execute desired deliberations of the icareindia vision.
We are trying to contribute to the cause, without financial support from the State and Central Government. Support from state/district functionaries and all sections of the society viz. corporate sector, civil society organisations, media, college faculties, school teachers, local community, youth will continue to strengthen our mission in coming years.
I CARE INDIA is working on three verticals as scalable and sustainable holistic economical model of social development:
Ankuram (“Seed of Change”) under Child Development vertical is the top priority programme running on mission mode.
